The Standard Horizon HX400 is a 5 Watt 40 VHF Waterproof Marine Radio can also be programmed with 40 UHF Land Mobile Frequencies.  The Standard Horizon HX407 receives all US, Canadian, and International Marine Channels as well as NOAA and up to 40 UHF LMR frequencies. Standard Horizon HX407 VHF marine radios are expertly designed to handle the toughest of environments and can be safely used on land or at sea. The HX407 is equipped with a 17 hour lithium ion battery and receives NOAA weather alerts.

I thought the HX407 is intrinsically safe?   We offer the Standard Horizon HX400IS which is an intrinsically safe version of this Marine Radio.  

Is an FCC License required to use the HX407 Marine Radio?  In many cases, the answer is yes. Twowayradiocenter.com can assist you with obtaining an FCC license. The cost is around $500.

Can we use Marine Channels on land? No, marine channels may only be used on waterways.

Will the LMR frequencies be programmed into the Standard Horizon HX407 when we receive it?  Yes, we will program 16 UHF Business Frequencies into the Standard Horizon HX407 out of the box.
